RAISIN-SPICE  CUP  CAKES

This is an OLD Betty Crocker recipe--probably 1940s--it is very good!

Wash and simmer  1 cup  raisins  in one cup of water till raisins are plump.

Sift together:
1 cup flour---3/4  cup sugar---1 1/2  tsp  B.  P.
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp  cinnamon
1/2 tsp  cloves
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Add:
1/4 c. shortening
1/2  cup of the raisin liquid

Add:
1 unbeaten egg and beat the mixture well

Add:
Raisins and nuts(optional)
Bake           18 - 20 minutes          400 degrees
